Here is a stanza from a song (恋のバカンス):

金色に輝く
熱い砂の上で
裸で恋をしよう
人魚のように

I'm getting contradicting opinions on what is characterized as golden here:

1. People involved
2. Mermaid/merman
3. Sand

Can anybody help me with a correct translation?

Golden = sand Feb 10, 2015

Here's the gist of it:

On the hot sand that shimmers like gold,
let's make love in the nude, like mermaids.

"Golden" is the color that the sand shines/glistens/shimmers.
(You could say "golden shimmering sand," but then you'd need to rework it to fit in "hot.")
