L'origine di questa pratica è dei Maori della Nuova Zelanda, ma si sta diffondendo in tutto il mondo. Il poi dà molte possibilità coreografiche, e soprattutto è di una grande bellezza. Si possono far roteare palle infuocate, palline con un certo peso (di tessuto, piene di semi, riso, sabbia o fagioli), ma la cosa più poetica de vedere sono senza dubbio i poi veils.
