Hi, still trying to get to grips with XBench. Basically, I have a list of words I would like to check automatically for each new projects. It is in Excell. Can I use this directly? I have tried to create a checklist, but it does not seem to perform what I want, i.e. only showing the instances that are wrong/inconsistent. Instead, it just shows a list of occurrences.

Maybe a termbase in a CAT tool?
Feb 28, 2017
Not sure if this helps, but I would add those words to a termbase in a CAT Tool and run a QA there in the CAT tool. For example, in a QA check, MemoQ lists the occurrences of the source word where it doesn't see the appropriate translation of that word in the target. This can cause a lot of unnecessary checks because of the declensions in my language, but maybe it's easier in your languages.

Hi,
You can check a glossary in the following way in Xbench:
Glossary (source and target terms) 1. Save the Excel file as Unicode text. 2. Add the txt file to Xbench as Keyterms. 3. Enable the "Key Term Mismatch" checkbox at the QA tab > Content check group.
Please notice that source key terms are considered match whole word by default in Xbench.
Checklist
If you want to check that a source term has been translated correctly, you should enter an entry like the following one: Source term: file Correct translation: archivo
Entry in Xbench: Source term: "file" Target term: -"archivo" Enable the Powersearch checkbox. In this way, Xbench will display all segments that contain file in source but do not contain archivo in target.
If you have a list of prohibited words, just create an entry with the word or expression in source or target.
If you need help with a checklist entry or regular expression, there is a forum where users can ask for help: http://forum.xbench.net/.
There are some short videos at https://www.youtube.com/user/xbenchdotnet that explain various topics: advanced search, checklist, integration with memoQ, memSource, etc.
Do you know if it is possible to use Xbench on Idiom files and to take into account the entries from the "Comment" column? For instance, if Comment = Text1 then Translation=Text2 Or if Comment = Text3 then Translation=Text4?

Comments are not taken into account for QA purposes but displayed at the details section of the Search tab as additional info.
Only source and target text is used when running QA.
