Hello everyone,

Today ProZ.com is "pre-releasing" a preview of a new service provider feedback card. During this pre-release period you can view only your own feedback card (you will not be able to view the feedback card of others). You can access your feedback card from your profile (in the WWA box in the top right corner of your profile click on the "View feedback card" link) or by visiting www.proz.com/feedback-card/{your-profile-number}

Hello everyone,

Today ProZ.com is "pre-releasing" a preview of a new service provider feedback card. During this pre-release period you can view only your own feedback card (you will not be able to view the feedback card of others). You can access your feedback card from your profile (in the WWA box in the top right corner of your profile click on the "View feedback card" link) or by visiting www.proz.com/feedback-card/{your-profile-number}

The purpose of this pre-release is twofold:

1) To give service providers ample time to review the new WWA ratings they have received since the feature was announced (and subsequently to make any decisions regarding showing/hiding/contesting ratings)

2) Receive comments on the feedback card format (please feel free to leave your ideas/suggestions/critiques in the thread below)

Features of the new feedback card include:
- View private comments from outsourcers
- Pin your favorite entry to the top of your card (ProZ.com Professional member and Business member feature)
- View the average rating given of the feedback giver (ProZ.com Professional member and Business member feature)
- View additional project details about a feedback entry (ProZ.com Business member feature)
- Respond to feedback comments
- Manage your feedback card display settings

The new feedback cards will go live on January 3rd, 2018.

More compact Dec 12, 2017

Why is the feedback spaced out so much than only two comments can be seen on a page on a PC?

To read 5 entries, I have to scroll down 3 times, i.e. display 4 pages. It's not a very efficient page design. Compare with the layout of the Blue Board.

The sides of the screen are not used at all, so you waste height with the outsourcer name, the like button and the reply button, which could all be next to the comment instead of under it.

It's difficult for the reader to get any sort of overview that way.

My first bit of feedback Dec 12, 2017

Hi Kevin,

My first bit of feedback:

Preface the comments in the "Outsourcer feedback" section with the word "Comment:" (or something similar), as in the old system, which, btw, was much more compact and easy to quickly scan visually. This is a similar problem to the one I mentioned previously regarding other site redesigns: the old system may have looked a bit dated, but imo was often better from a UX point of view. This is a similar problem to the one I mentioned previously regarding other site redesigns: the old system may have looked a bit dated, but imo was often better from a UX point of view. I think it's great you guys are working so hard on redesigning the site, and I am aware that empty space is cool in modern website design, but I kind of prefer the old skool stuff when it comes to usability. Plus, I really miss the old colours, which were much warmer and more friendly!

Michael

PS: will it remain possible to open something similar to the old window, i.e. in a pop-up window? I really like the fact that the current system can be opened in a pop-up window, looked at briefly, and then closed, taking the user back to the original profile page.

First problem Dec 12, 2017

Hello Kevin,

I haven't yet looked at this in any great detail as I immediately found something that needs changing.

It says "disciplines" (not sure why that word was chosen as it isn't the common one) and then it lists the first of my working fields. It doesn't show my specialisations at all.

Will the old design be removed? Dec 12, 2017

With Proz staff's knowledge and accept, I embed the Proz feedback page in my own website: http://frosttranslation.com/recommendations.html

Will this functionality be affected? Last year staff mentioned it may be converted to a widget for various reasons, but the new, wasteful design (what use of space is concerned) looks rather unsuitable for this purpose, so it would be a se

I've never understood the purpose of this new PC design concept that seems to go "let's display no more information on a PC screen than what can be fitted on a smartphone screen", thereby applying the limitations of small smartphone screens to large PC screens, making it as tedious to get any sort of overview on a PC screen as it is on a smartphone screen. In any case, the new layout is a complete failure in my view, as already mentioned.

Disciplines Dec 12, 2017

I was just about to write the same comment as Sheila! Was really surprised when under "Disciplines" I saw a couple of my working fields (I rarely work in these fields), and not my fields of specialisation, which are my daily working fields.
Plus, I agree with Thomas about the page design. When one sees it, the first impression is vast white space.

Another thing, I have 12 comments from the clients, when I pin one, it says I have 11. Really funny, why the pinned one is not incl

Sheila Wilson wrote:

Same for me. Major error.

Also, there are no links under "and X more". Anyway, as you're already wasting most of the screen space for no apparent purpose, it seems strange you couldn't have found space for a few more words under languages and disciplines. As a very minimum, there should be an easy way for the reader to see the rest. As a hover text, a link or something else.

But will the bugs ever get fixed? CPN pools were launched with great fanfare, and after we had taken time to point out all the bugs, nothing was fixed, so the system is just sitting around like a dead duck full of bugs. What's the purpose of launching new functions if you never fix the bugs to make the function work properly? We'll just end up with a system full of half-baked functions scattered all over the place.

How do we even navigate to that CPN pools profile anyway? I can't find it in the menus.

Pools Dec 12, 2017

Speaking of the CPN pools, as the source of my credentials, the potential client sees "UB". It doesn't say much. I've written several times asking this to be changed into University of Belgrade, but nothing happens, it's still UB.

A "compact" display mode has been added. You can access this option in your feedback card settings.

Done, thanks.

It will open in a new tab.

Thanks for pointing this out. Fixed.

In the near term it will not be affected. A widget for feedback will be added in the future.

Less is more Dec 13, 2017

As others have pointed out, the new card shows considerably less information and takes up considerably more screen space than the old popup. However, no doubt the new design will be forced down our throats regardless.

How do you pin an entry?

It says: "Click the more options arrow in the top right of an entry to pin it," but there is no such arrow.

SPECIALIZES IN Dec 13, 2017

If it's only going to show a couple of fields, would it be possible to add a facility to allow us prioritise our specialisations, and then select the ones to display in numerical order of prioritisation rather than selecting according to alphabetical order? Would that be too difficult to do? Otherwise I will remove the ones I only rarely work in. @Thomas Dec 13, 2017

Hi Thomas, this arrow appears only in the default view. So, go to Feedback card settings on the left, change it to default, pin the comment you want, then go back to Feedback card settings (now it's on the right) and change it to compact. A bit complicated, huh? This is how I did it, but I didn't like how the pinned comment looked like, so I unpinned it.

Thanks @Kevin for all the amends.

For the compact display, the option to pin an entry has been added to the right 'Options' column.

You can order your specializations here by dragging and dropping them. The order you set will be reflected on your feedback card.
