teenager\'s fantasy ficti
Cobe had never given it much thought, but if he did, he might’ve changed his mind about his peers. His village was so remote and small that the five young men were all related by blood. The rarity of new people joining their small community made interbreeding a reality. The men were all cousins, even if Cobe would never admit it. They shared the same straight dark hair, same tanned skin, even the same facial features; close-set eyes and a pug nose.

Yes, this is what we call 'in-breeding' or 'interbreeding' — there's a lot of it around where I live! You can see why the Bible forbids it — the gene pool gets too restricted.

Yes, I think the person mistakenly used the wrong term, which ought to have been 'in-breeding' — though people do also use 'interbreeding' in this sense, where it is clear it refers to 'interbreeding within a genetically-close group'.

yes but that's the exact opposite of the Cambridge https://dictionary.cambridge.org/fr/dictionnaire/anglais/interbreeding |

: ''consanguinité", I agree, is the best choice so far, and it is the absolute opposite of my initial suggestion.

Absolutely. That's why I didn't rate it high in terms of confidence. Thanks for the feedback.

Tony M
: That's not the same thing at all. 'métissage' refers to e.g. different ethnic groups breeding together — which serves to diversify the gene pool; this is about breeding between people who are too genetically close.

Note from asker:
le contexte évoque bien une situation d'endogamie et de ses conséquences, toutefois je vais préféré le terme consanguinité, qui sous entends par sa connotation méprisante la kyrielle de tares en découlant souvent. |

intramarriage
Similar to intermarriage.
Discussion
Hors, au regard du contexte , il s'agirait plus de consanguinité.
A part le narrateur petit mais futé, les autres personnages sont décrits comme de grande brutes tyranniques et stupides
