Наши поставщики возмущались тем, что мы выклянчивали у них максимально низкие цены…» - писал в своей книге «Как я создал Wal-Mart» пионер розничной торговли, создатель крупнейшей в мире розничной сети Сэм Робсон Уолтон. Судя по всему, война между ритейлерами и производителями разгорелась сегодня и на российском рынке.
Современный сетевой формат становится наиболее перспективным, и свои заработки производители резонно связывают именно с ним. Но часто оказываются в подчиненном положении, практически не имея возможности противостоять диктату сетевых ритейлеров. Особенно страдают местные производители, которым по объемам производства и оборотных средств трудно конкурировать с раскрученными брендами.
Производители предъявляют ритейлерам множество претензий - низкие закупочные цены, скидки, превышающие порой уровень рентабельности, отсроченные платежи за реализованный товар (по сути - беспроцентные коммерческие кредиты). Требование снижать закупочные цены совмещается с различными «входными билетами на полку», маркетинговыми бюджетами, обязательным участием в акциях по продвижению товара, взносами за расширение ассортимента и т.д. Оправдывая необходимость маркетинговых бонусов и промоакций, ритейлеры пытаются донести до производителей вполне понятную мысль: от каждого продукта, от каждой позиции на полке, от каждого квадратного метра должна быть определенная отдача. И если магазин этой отдачи не получает, доплачивать производителю придется. Ведь именно производитель должен доказывать, что его продукция лучшая, иначе он не выживет на рынке.
Еще одно условие вхождения практически во все крупные торговые сети - наличие у производителя своих мерчендайзеров, людей, которые работают непосредственно с магазинами – отслеживают ассортимет, составляют заявки, следят за выкладкой продукции, то есть продвигают товар. Но мерчендайзеры, также, как и солидные рекламные бюджеты, большинству местных производителей не по карману.
Translation - English In his book "Sam Walton: Made in America" Wal-Mart founder Walton recounts how the world’s largest retail company pushed its suppliers to lower prices as far as possible and made them fight for its business. Current signs indicate that Russian retailers and suppliers are engaged in a similar war.
While manufacturers continue to pin their hopes on the ever more promising chain store model, they often find that when the beast turns they have little bargaining power with retail chains. Local manufacturers lacking the output volume and resources of top brands are generally hit the hardest.
Manufacturers’ many complaints about retailers include low prices, discounts that can cut past the breakeven point and chronically late settlement (a backhanded way of obtaining interest-free loans). In addition to reduced wholesale prices, chains can demand that manufacturers jump through any number of hoops to get their goods on the shelves, such as marketing allowances, mandatory participation in special offers and payment for expanding the product line a store offers. Chains justify the need for marketing bonuses and promotions with one straightforward concept – the store has to get a certain level of return on every product, every item on the shelf and every square meter of floor space. Without that return, the manufacturer has to make up the difference. After all, the manufacturer is in the position of having to prove that its product is the best if it hopes to survive.
Most large retail chains also require that manufacturers provide their own merchandizers to track product lines, process orders, inspect displays and promote products. Like generous advertising allowances, merchandizers are yet another expense that most local manufacturers are ill able to afford.
