Bio

I was born, raised and received my bachelor's degree in the United States. Ever since I was a child I have loved reading and languages, and after taking an introductory translation course while studying abroad in Spain I fell in love with translation as well. Although words and language are my passion, I have always had an interest in science and technology as well, which led me to earn a master's degree in International Technical Communication from the University of Hildesheim in Germany.

After completing my master's degree, I received on-the-job training in patent translation and found that, much to my surprise, I adore translating patents. The structure and regularity of the texts really speak to me, and the specificity and attention to detail that they require fits well with my detail-oriented approach. The broad range of technical subjects covered in my master's degree program also prepared me well for the wide range of technical fields present in patent texts.

In addition to patents, I also translate technical documentation, instruction manuals, press releases, magazine articles and other marketing texts.

I have passed the SDL Trados Studio 2019 Advanced certification exam and used Studio 2019 as my primary CAT tool for several years. I currently work with Trados Studio 2021, Across, and memoQ.
