But I have reduced this quite a bit because ProZ deleted a couple of negative entries (mine and others) of poor paying companies without even notifying me saying my comments wer "unfair"!!

No, I can't Jan 9, 2018

As I am not a paying member, that is not an option for me...

Only when I have something special to say (positive or negative). I don't bother to say an agency is normal, average... although I realize I should, it would help other people's decisions.

But not for ages now.
Funnily enough, I still occasionally do some work for one agency which is banned due to poor blue board ratings. Basically, they tend to pay at around 60-90 days, which appears to be the main reason they were slated so much. As I don't mind waiting for payment occasionally, I don't really have an issue with that. However, in the past couple of years I've usually been too busy to accept any offers of work from that particular agency (they approached me this Christmas,

I always make a BB entry, favorable or otherwise, for all the clients I've worked for over the years through Proz. I’ve just checked and I have a total of 38 entries, 4 are negative.

P.S. I've never asked a WWA entry from a client...

Nowadays, I'd only rush to leave feedback if I needed to warn others to take care. Fortunately, that's only happened twice in the last ten years. Otherwise, I tend to leave it until I receive notification that someone has posted a "Request for Entries" about one of my clients. It seems most appropriate at that time. I won't get into the "mutual back-rubbing" exercises that seem common nowadays. Some agency clients do seem to think that if they've paid you on time once then you're obliged to say ... See more

Some agency clients do seem to think that if they've paid you on time once then you're obliged to say glowing things about them, and they'll do the same in return .

The only feedback I'd give nowadays immediately after a first assignment is when I've got something bad to say. I've had too many good first experiences that have turned out to be not so good, with later payments being delayed and pressure put on rates. I tend not to rate those clients, just let them slip away - they aren't particularly bad, just not very good. I can afford to be choosy nowadays.

I occasionally make feedback for clients and ask WWA entry from them. I thinks it's win-win situation...

Yes, always Jan 9, 2018

I always refer to the Blue Board for new clients, and I realize it only works because people to make feedback entries. So I'm collaborating with something that is very useful to me, and it would be pretty selfish not to, since I use it all the time. If everyone was in the "sometimes" or "never" team, there would be no Blue Board.

That's one of the main reasons I do it. The Blue Board can give you an indication of how good an agency is to freelancers.

I have not done it for a while though.

I must admit that while checking the BB entries I look at the''5''s more favourably when the entries were left by the translators whom I know and respect, otherwise they can be misleading - on several occasions I've seen ''5''s left for the agencies with the very low rates.

I used to Jan 9, 2018

I gave a bad review to an agency and they tried to withhold payment until I changed my 1 to a 5.
I won, thanks to Proz staff.

I would like to do so for 2 agencies I work for, but they are my 2 main clients. They end up paying.

I don't believe there's anything to stop registered users (IOW those who don't pay for membership) leaving feedback, in fact I believe we're all encouraged too. You can also, AFAIK, set up records for outsourcers that haven't so far got one, and issue requests for entries, i.e. nudge others to leave feedback for someone you're thinking of working with.

I think the only real restriction is on the amount of information you can get back from the BB - I suspect that registered users can only get the score, and not the comments (???).
