German term

Seltenerdoxid

German to English Law/Patents Chemistry; Chem Sci/Eng Patentanalyse
there must be an equivalent for this in English but I do not seem to be able to find it. Any help appreciated.

"X gibt ein Bindematerial für eine Gasentladungslampe an, welches aus A, B und C und einem Seltenerdoxid, darunter z und y, aufbebaut ist". (the letters stand for the appropriate chemical formulations).

agree Ford Prefect : Yeah - I think you can use the generic term with the indefinite article. Shame they don't tell you _which_. "Lanthanide" would also do.
