Spanish term

dando molote

Spanish to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature
From a poem written by a high school student. (I'm translating these for an anthology of student poetry.)

The poem is about the girl's mixed feelings on leaving her home country (for the US)

Una alegria
llena de angustia
pensamientos
desesperados
dando molote.

I understand "dando molote" to mean that all these mixed feelings and thoughts were overwhelming, creating a kind of chaos in her mind, but I'm not sure how to phrase this in English. Would be grateful for any suggestions. (Also, of course, please let me know if I've misunderstood the meaning!)

sends my mind in turmoil

This is what I came up with:

alboroto (m)
n. disturbance; turmoil; mayhem; brawl; noise

molote.

1. m. Am. Cen., Ant. y Col. monote (‖ riña, alboroto).

2. m. coloq. Cuba. Conjunto de personas aglomeradas en un lugar.

3. m. Guat. y Méx. tanate (‖ envoltorio).

intertwined, mutually involved

dar molote también tiene un sentido sexual, en línea con lo explicado arriba, pero no creo que sea el sentido, si proviene de una niña.

drumming away

All these thought s beating away in her mind like a drum.(figuratively of course)

churning in my mind

Has this girl given permission for her poem to be translated?? There are some ethical considerations here.

If it was written in a high school class, the teacher does not own it or have the right to send it out for translation.
