This factory should be "имени 1-го мая", as far as I understand.

It is frequently a temptation for native Russian speakers to translate names of the structure "[uchrezhdenie] imeni [kogo/chego]" as "[institution] named after [someone/something]", following the familiar Russian syntax. In my humble opinion, this is almost invariably taken in English as clumsy and as foreign "translatese", and should be avoided. I believe that it's preferable to seek an English variant of the structure "the [someone/something] [institution]" Thus, for example, not "Maritime State University named after G.I. Novel'skoi", but "the G.I. Novel'skoi Maritime State University"; and not "University named after M.V. Lomonosov," but "the M.V. Lomonosov University". And also, in the phrase we are given, the city connection is probably best translated not as "of the city [X]", but "in the city [X]". Прошу прощения за англоязычный ответ.
