I emailed a friend of mikne that owns a large architectural practice in London and this is reply:

"A Director is responsible overall for a project. Could be called a Practice Director. He would meet the Client and be the ultimate buck stop.
There then may be an Associate Director or an Associate ‘running’ the job on a day to day basis dealing with the Client or his Rep. They could be called a Studio Director (ie each ‘studio’ is a team) would manage the process and check outputs.
The Senior Architect may actually complete permit applications for his Ass/AD to check. He too would liaise with the Client.
I know that ain’t helpful , if it’s for a translation, but it all depends how each Architectural Practice is set up. They are all different in their own ways."
