Spanish term

actualización lingüística y didáctica

Spanish to English Social Sciences Education / Pedagogy
Actualización lingüística y didáctica del profesorado. This standard phrase crops up often in ESL/EFL teacher training courses. It refers to the fact that the teachers will update and improve their speaking skills on the one hand, and their teaching techniques and strategies on the other. How could I render this in a clear and simple way?
Thank you for any assistance.

Updating of teachers/professors in linguistics and didactic activities

Does this help?
Peer comment(s):

agree Jenni Lukac (X) : if personally prefer skills to activities, but agree with updating.

Thanks Jenni
disagree Liliana Galiano : I find it very unlikely for a course title, at least among teachers.

Professional development in linguistics and teaching

This is what these sorts of courses are usually called in the States, with the idea of "updating skills" implicit in it.

Thanks for your answer Patricia. I finally opted for Eileen's suggestion as it would be more easily understood by teachers in our context.

updating/upgrading/refresher course in linguistics and didactics

Así lo diría yo.
Para "updating course in" hay muchos resultados en Google.
Para "upgrading course in", el doble casi.
Para "refresher course in", ya nos vamos al millón y medio de resultados.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

That's definitely what it's called in the UK.

You probably wouldn't need to translate "lingüística y didáctica" because it's all included in the concept of CPD. These days ESOL teachers (which I was until December last year) have to log their CPD and gain a certain number of credits per year to maintain their professional status.

And here's an ad for a teaching job in a private language school offering CPD as part of the package:

Thanks for your answer, David. I think Eileen's suggestion will be more easily recognisable by the teachers in my specific context.
