Spanish term

gráfica

Spanish to English Marketing Advertising / Public Relations
Es una "gráfica" pero no tipo "chart" o "diagrama" sino un anuncio con foto, texto, etc. Quizás la traducción más general sería "ad". El cliente sugiere "print" y nosotros hemos puesto "feature". Alguna sugerencia?

Gracias

Jenni Lukac (X) Nov 24, 2009:
A print ad would indicate to me that it appeared in print media , such as a newspaper or magazine, rather than in internet or on television. Whatever the media is, if it features a photo, any of Robert's suggestions would suffice.

image ad

I have been doing some work for the largest search engine on one of their advertising projects, and the approved term we used, and as far as I know the most common term for an ad with graphics of any kind is an image ad.

Check out some hits see if they work for you:

Results 1 - 10 of about 192,000 for "image ad". (0.33 seconds)

HTH

Usually you have image ads, text ads, and interactive ads. I personally think that "graphic ad" is also an option you could offer a client, and would instinctively go for "image/graphic ad" as a solid pair of options to choose from. HTH and good luck with the job.

BTW, The reason I would hesitate to use "photo ad" is only because the graphics might be of another kind, such as a logo or other graphic, a map, a piece of art, etc. etc. If the ads exclusively use photos, there's no reason why Robert's "photo ad" wouldn't be a great option. It's just that usually the image is not always a photo: rather, a variety of media might be used.
