I am going to close the question because I suspect this is a back translation, hence the Spanish is suspect. However, it seems clear the meaning is something along the lines of consumable or replacement parts, as Carmen suggests. Thanks!

I had spelled it correctly in my first posting this same discussion section and I quote: "I think it is referring to parts to be replaced when the life of these runs out so it could be parts (as in spare parts) or perhaps even consumable parts as you suggested" which I then added as a note to my original answer area below and where I later stated that it was spelled ok in the discussion but not in the answer area. I was typing fast the first time I answered plus I wrote it the way the asker had it, which tripped me up.

Just to be clear, at 2 hours (when I entered my suggestion) your answer said "consumibles/consumible parts", both of which are misspelled, in the explanation field.

Depending on the context, it could either be referring to medical device components/replacement parts (if the referring to parts that need to be changed) if referring to medical consumables in general then it would be consumable(s) but this could be just about any product used in a hospital and not necessarily devices only. I work in a large county hospital and that is what I hear the staff use there. From the context given it appears that the context has to do with maintaining the medical device and ensuring its proper functioning by calibrating it accordingly, etc; thus it would seem that when called for, certain parts need to be added (i.e, being called in new text provided "sustitucion de elementos "), which go hand in hand with replacement components/parts.

I would like to clarify that I had actually pointed out early on (before Russi et al) that consumable(s) could work-- I simply gave more than one option (in different parts of my answer)-thus I don't understand why the repetion of some colleagues and/or disagree of another--do answerers and voters not read all the comments before giving their "informed" opinion??
