TENSOR

Portuguese to English Tech/Engineering Environment & Ecology Pollution Control

Mark Robertson Jan 24, 2011:
There are many texts on environmental impact issues in PT that use the term tensor, but I cannot find any such texts in EN. This suggests to me that the PT term tensor is a false friend.
Mike Davison (asker) Jan 24, 2011:
The term TENSOR is correctly translated as TENSOR in English, but tensor has dozens of meanings in English. I think that the version of tensor used in the given context means a 'damage provoking factor', as Richard describes in this discussion
Mark Robertson Jan 24, 2011:
I cannot see how the term as defined in the links can be identified with the term queried. Is the term tensor used in this context in EN?
R. Alex Jenkins Jan 24, 2011:
The literal translation appears to be correct, but if you're not happy with that, maybe 'stress provoking factor', or something in that area. A bit more explanatory.

tensor (PT)
