Science - Psychology / relaxation techniques

English translation:directing/focussing/centering awareness
Explanation:
By directing your awareness you can relax your psyche
Relax your psyche by focussing your attention

the example sentence is neither complete nor common in this field, you do not relax your psyche - but you can relax your body, organs and mind, which benefit the psyche/soul.

9. Try a Musical Detour
Music can calm the heartbeat and soothe the soul, the experts say. So, when the going gets rough, take a musical stress detour by aligning your heartbeat with the slow tempo of a relaxing song. And you might want to make that a classical tune. Research shows that listening to 30 minutes of classical music may produce calming effects equivalent to taking 10 mg of Valium.

neutral  thefastshow: What's wrong with that?Bearing in mind that psyche is the greek goddes of the soul. The basic meaning of the Greek word ψυχή (psūchê) was "life". Derived meanings included "spirit", "ghost", and ultimately "self", "conscious personality"..

-> All true and no doubt about it! My suggestion focusses on the practice of meditation or relaxation techniques and how they are practically applied. "Psyche" is a wonderful word, just not commonly applied in the field.

agree  Helen Shiner: It is fine to use 'mind' for Psyche in such contexts - psychiatry, psychology have the same root. I like your suggestions because, apart from anything else, they sound natural and convincing.

-> Yes, "mind". Although "psyche" can be directly translated, it isn't usually done in this field. Thank you for the support.

Die Wahrnehmungslenkung
Mit dieser Methode gewinnen Sie Abstand zum Stress und blenden ihn aus. Wenn die momentane Situation Sie überfordert, hilft es nichts, sich krampfhaft auf deren Bewältigung zu versteifen. Sie sind blockiert und treten auf der Stelle. Lenken Sie Ihre Aufmerksamkeit dann lieber gezielt auf andere Dinge.

-> So what are relaxation techniques exactly? In general, relaxation techniques involve refocusing our attention away from something stressful and toward something calming and soothing. http://www.therapytestingva.com/2011/02/just-chill-technique...
