English term

equipment, fixtures and fitting

English to French Tech/Engineering Ships, Sailing, Maritime Shipbuilding

"the ownership of the YACHT and equipment, fixtures and fitting will be transferred to the DISTRIBUTOR step by step
as construction proceeds."

Should be 'fittings'...

In a property context... 'fixtures and fittings' are associated with 'immobiliers par destination' — there is a nicety of meaning between them in EN that for the moment escapes me, but I think the intended meaning is exactly the same in this context; just remains to be seen how to render that in FR! I have to say that I have not personally seen this expression used in connection with boats in EN before.

The idea of 'fixtures and fittings' is to do with those things that are permanently attached to the structure, which devolve to the landlord, for example, when a tenant leaves. Basically, if you only hook it on, you can take it away with you, but if you screw or nail it, then it becomes the landlord's property.

Having now read your reminder about the poor EN, I suspect that 'fixtures and fittings' is probably wrong anyway! You may be looking at '(yacht) fittings', which often translates 'accastillage', as Virgine has suggested.

accastillage

Note from asker:
Merci Virginie !

agree Tony M : I think accastillage + installations covers the term nicely.
