manually key stroked entièrement composée à la main Explanation: "Each Entry submission must be manually key stroked and manually entered and uploaded by the individual entrant.." "key stroked" is part of "manually key stroked" "by the individual entrant" => this is some sort of competition (in writing essays?) where the requirement is that the submitted text has to be entirely typed manually (no copy-pasting allowed) and also the submission of the text is to be made manually by the Entrant, not by some automated script. |

saisi Explanation: Odd use of the EN here! We normally talk about 'manually keyed' = 'typed in by hand', but the writer here seems to have got that a bit muddled up with 'key strokes' — most processes usually try to minimize the number of key strokes required to achieve a particular end. A common word I encounter for 'data entry' (or rather, the verb 'to enter data') is 'saisir'. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 5 mins (2012-12-03 18:39:22 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Yup, the more I re-read this, the more I suspect it might have been written by a non-native speaker. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 16 hrs (2012-12-04 10:44:12 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- OK, so Daryo's hunch was right! 'saisi manuellement' could possibly work in the now-clearer context... |
