Or 'racket'. Not sure about the rhyming I'm afraid so that's why I've only entered a medium confidence but it conveys the meaning. Maybe someone else can come up with something that fits the song better.

here is my attempt where (using poetic licence of course) I have changed the rhyme scheme:
With my (dear) little station in my mind's eye
where each train chuffed gaily through
I still hear through the hullabaloo
strange words, words of goodbye
OK it doesn't scan.... and certainly doesn't fit the tune but as we all know, nobody's perfect..
Ménilmontant... mais oui, madame....... (or monsieur as the case may be...)

9 syll - 8 syll - 9syll - 5 + 4 syll. If one could reduce the 2nd last line to 4 syllables, then the rhythm and rhyme would match the Fr.
released in 1939, if I'm not mistaken. Buzz seems to me to be very anachronistic - Verginia's quote coming from (again if I'm not mistaken) 'Jesus Christ Superstar'. Anyway, the song is totally nostalgic, and seems to be very in tune with kashew's link to Mémoire de la gare de Ménilmontant. All that to say that I'm not very keen on buzz -especially when the "buzz" is , amongst other things, people saying fond farewells to each other..
