I'm not quite convinced as to the meaning of "carácter asociativo" in this context, or how it really fits into the sentence considering what comes before and afterwards.


El consorcio del Instituto XXXX es una entidad de derecho público de carácter asociativo dotada de personalidad jurídica propia y sin ánimo de lucro que tiene como finalidad la proyección exterior de la lengua y de la cultura...

I think the main problem is that it's described as a consorcio, instituto, una entidad, and now, an association, in the space of about 12 words. Obviously I realize that the term is "association", my problem was more fitting it in to the sentence. Thanks Phil for the suggestion.
