English to French Law/Patents Engineering (general) vehicle latch
Avehicle latch that has a mechanical override or mechanical release feature wherein a non-mechanical portion of the latch is inoperative.

An electronic door latching system 34 with an outside (e.g., outside of the door or vehicle) emergency override or release in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention is illustrated.

dispositif de marche forcé de secours

Generally, 'override' can be tranlated as 'marche forcé' whne it rrefers to making something operate that otherwise wouldn't be.

However, the case here is slightly different, inamsuch as it is not meant to make something operate, but rather to open. So maybe '...ouverture forcée...' might be more appropriate?

Peer comment(s):

disagree Tony M : Sorry, Yves, but that represents the wrong s/tword order: it is 'a device for overriding', not 'overriding a device'

disagree Daryo : you got it so DANGEROUSLY WRONG - in real life you’d be avoidably dead with a “security system” like the one you describe

Peer comment(s):

disagree Daryo : "emergency override" can lead to all sort of actions "déclenchement/ouverture" is just one of many possible and is not the main point of "override"
