Spanish term

Rs Hs Ps doloroso en epigastrio

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general) Nurse\'s notes in hospital chart (Spain)
I do not have a lot of context to offer here, I am afraid. The phrase appears under the section "EXPLORACION FISICA" in a patient's hospital chart.

I think that "Rs" may be "ruidos." "Doloroso" (not in plural) is how the word appears in the original.

Many thanks.

Discussion

Chema Nieto Castañón Jun 9, 2018:
Como ya comentado por lorena, no parece en absoluto necesaria la inclusión de "present" en la versión inglesa; normal bowel sounds implica ruidos peristálticos / hidroaéreos presentes. De hecho, otra alternativa equivalente en castellano sería ruidos peristálticos / hidroaéreos normales. Si son normales es que están presentes. Y si dices que están presentes implicas que son normales, salvo que explícitamente digas otra cosa.
Saludos varios!

My goodness, I meant epigastric pain
Peer comment(s):

agree George Simon : Ruidos hidro áereos presentes. I would leave out the normal

Thank you George :-)
agree Stephen D. Moore : Rather than add "[present]", I would simply insert a comma. Even in English, medical reports are often terse.

Yes, I ate the comma after [present] which can be ommited. Thank you y saludos!
agree Chema Nieto Castañón : El original completo alude a "exploración de abdomen: RsHsPs, doloroso [el abdomen] en epigastrio". Así, Normal bowel sounds, epigastric pain sounds just perfect

Yes Chema, in English it is: normal bowel sounds. Some native Spanish speaking translators insist on adding the "present" part (ergo added in brackets). Un abrazo!
