menagerie Explanation: According to the Academy dictionary, "animalario" literally means a building where experimental laboratory animals are kept. http://dle.rae.es/?id=2h9h0iu But here it's being used more loosely, I think, to refer to the children who are dressing up in animal masks, and what we want is simply a word referring to a collection of animals. I think "menagerie" would fit well; it's also used more generally to mean a varied collection.
