Deutsch term

Does this mean "terminate through legal action?" That is my guess.

Discussion

AllegroTrans Jan 16, 2019:
@ Phil If the lessee leaves voluntarily, there won't be a "gerichtlich" termination - it will be by consent and court action will not be needed. I think this means unilateral termination by the lessor through the court
Dr. Andrew Hudson (asker) Jan 15, 2019:
I agree That was what made me post the question: I don't see the point for "gerichtlich" either.
philgoddard Jan 15, 2019:
Never mind I've looked it up, and it's a list of circumstances in which the lessor can terminate the lease for cause (aus wichtigem Grund). I don't understand why it has to be "gerichtlich", though - supposing the lessee is asked to leave, and does so willingly?
philgoddard Jan 15, 2019:
What does § 30 MRG say?

terminated by court order

I believe the court order part is important.

Legally terminated

"Gerichtlich" means simply "legal(ly)", this is therefore the simplest translation. Your suggestion implies action (the word 'action' tipped me off), which is absent, in my opinion, from the original text. "Legally terminated" exists in thousands of contracts, as per Google.

neutral philgoddard : Gerichtlich means through the courts.

neutral writeaway : as opposed to illegally? /but gerichtlich doesn't really translate as legal in this context.

Dunno about that, but with 35,000 Google results, it's definitely a thing.
