English term

engine capsule

English to French Tech/Engineering Automotive / Cars & Trucks
This question is related to a french source and for that reason I decided to select FR->EN as language pair. Is it possible that there is a french phrase for "engine compartment" that has a similar meaning and can be by a mistake translated into english as "engine capsule"? I am translating a document on vehicle cleaning products and one of them is intended for "renovation of engine capsule".

Dear Friends, is any of You willing to provide an answer to this question? I would like it to be "engine compartment", to be understood as "everything inside engine compartment". Then I can close this question and maybe this will be useful to someone in some distant future.

What does it actually mean in French? Is it more of a "housing" or a "compartment"?

Renault/Ixtar Found the term capsule moteur used by Renault and its Ixtar brand of cleaning products. Helpful pictures also included.

- Réaliser cette opération dans l’aire sèche avant de déplacer le véhicule (moteur froid).
- Pulvériser le nettoyant capsule moteur prêt à l’emploi 14 à 10 cm environ des éléments à traiter (plastiques, durites, traverse supérieure…).
- Essuyer à l’aide d’une microfibre ou d’une feuille de bobine pour dégraisser et faire briller les parties visibles du moteur.

@ Asker, John As I said, 'capsule' makes one thing of 'casing', or alternatively 'housing'; I don't think it's then a very big leap from 'housing' to 'enclosure' or 'compartment'...
Adrian Liszewski (asker) Aug 2, 2019:
@Tony M Right, that was my first thought, but the list of the products already includes a separate product for engine cleaning, so then I switched to investigating if it was more of an engine compartment. My job is to translate, not to make guesses, therefore I decided to ask, maybe it was named originally using a word that other translator could easily mistake for a "capsule".
John ANTHONY Aug 2, 2019:
To Tony M Could it be a mis-translation for engine bay, since we are talking about cleaning...?
Tony M Aug 2, 2019:
@ Asker I would have thought a more plausible mis-translation might have been 'engine casing', but one could equally imagine 'engine housing'.

I feel pretty sure you're right, and that this is referring to the engine compartment, along with everything in it.
