English term or phrase: counterparty

Having consulted extensively with its counterparties in the market who are facing the same business uncertainties [en raison du Brexit], X has decided to apply for a Supply Licence in order to continue trading in France.

neutral  Daryo: too vague - they certainly "talk to each other" but that wouldn't make them automatically "counterparties" [nor even "counterparts")

homologues/pairs

Explanation:
Bearing the context in mind, it is obvious that the client mistakenly wrote "counterparty" instead of writing"counterparts" . Then the correspondent French word is "homologues" or "pairs"

its counterparties in the market

Explanation:
Seen as a group "its counterparties in the market" would be all the "other parties" in various transactions that this company has in "the market", the definite article being there because it's specifically the French market for gaz, not "market" as a general category.

This interpretation also makes sense, and there is no need to assume any typo/wrong choice of term.

Having consulted extensively with its counterparties in the market who are facing the same business uncertainties [en raison du Brexit]
=>
Having consulted extensively with all the companies they have dealings with in the (French) market (for gaz) who are facing the same business uncertainties [en raison du Brexit]

Note added at 1 day 15 hrs (2019-11-21 23:31:19 GMT)
--------------------------------------------------

You would assume that both this company and all the various "counterparties" in its ongoing trading (live contracts) in the French market for gaz would want to keep their existing commercial relations going, Brexit or no Brexit, so they would "consult" each other how to go about it.
