Spanish term

Cartera

Spanish to English Bus/Financial Investment / Securities
Hi,

I'm translating bank statements, and both "cartera" and "portfolio" are used separately. Any idea what the distinction is?

E.g.
Composición de portfolio - this is followed by a table of the cash amounts
Composición de cartera - this is followed by a pie chart of products

Thanks,
Ashleigh

Me too "Potfolio" was my first thought when I saw the query, as it's usually my go-to translation of "cartera" in this type of context. However, I no longer do financial translations if I can avoid them, partly due to this kind of "we call it X" idiosyncracy.

Hi Kristen,
It doesn't look like it - the two examples I listed are separate sections on a statement, listed immediately after each other.

Hi, Ashleigh.

Do you feel like they are being used interchangeably? I translate "portfolio" to "cartera".

I think that they basically mean the same but maybe you could differentiate them by using 'portfolio' and 'assets'

I have included a text I found. Hope it helps!
