: The sentence you use is a correct usage of 'écraser' — as indeed, entering text 'par écrasement'. BUT this does not mean 'override', rather 'overwrite' — and the difference is important, even if a FR speaker often tends to pronounce both the same.

Sometimes, it can be 'forcer' — but not here.
Sometimes, it can be 'primer sur...' — which is pretty close to the meaning here
And in other situations, such as 'automatic, with manual override', which i find trickier.
We don't have enough detail of the context to know exactly what action is involved here, it will depend on that missing context whether or not any out of the suggestions thus far of 'annuler', 'inhiber', or 'passer outre' is in fact appropriate.
