Hi everyone,

I can't seem to find the meaning of this word. It's from a Palestinian novel.

The sentence is here:

أدخل المطبخ، أشتمّ رائحة بقايا انشعاط في الجو المتغلّظ الحبيس.

Her daughter has burnt a cheese sandwich, and the mother enters the kitchen to find this.

It's similar to the Damascene word شويط. It also means a burning smell.
