Discussion

Nikki Scott-Despaigne Nov 3, 2021:
It is about validation of practical experience but in context, the sentence is clearly phrased with reference to (dans le cadre de) the ultimate goal, that of the professional certification.
Aidan Honeyman (asker) Nov 1, 2021:
Thank you, Phil!
philgoddard Nov 1, 2021:
Good translation I think it needs a comma after "contract".

professional certification

Based on the following definition, could it be a certificate of some sort?

Thanks James
agree SafeTex : I didn't know this but the references check out and it fits the context

Thank you
disagree Daryo : oversimplified and based on extrapolation from only tangentially relevant sources see https://docplayer.fr/193845543-Procedures-generales-stages-m...

agree Nikki Scott-Despaigne : I hesitated as Daryo makes an important point. However, the sentence with "dans le cadre de" makes it clear that the experience referred to is "within the framework of "professional certification". I re-agree with this suggestion.

validation of practical experience

confirmation / acceptance / validation of practical experience

the clue:

"le quitus professionnel" is ONLY about "validating practical experience (internship)" that is part of the requirements to obtain a diploma / formal qualification. Same as you need to "validate" the modules of purely academic learning.

For example, for someone training to be a teacher obtaining "le quitus professionnel" would require a certain number of hours of teaching real pupils in a real school.

detailed explanation:

NB you also have other types of "quitus" in a context of academic studies:

Sure about the meaning, no time to check the exact term used in UK, so only CL3

Note from asker:
I had not thought of that, thanks!

agree Adrian MM. : I had been groping towards vocational training 'sign-off' or credentials

Thanks!
neutral Nikki Scott-Despaigne : You make an important contextual point here. However, this term is preceded by "dans le cadre de" so it does indeed mean "professional certification".

can't see why HERE the context would change the meaning // this team deals ONLY with "helping you to get an internship" => you wouldn't translate "faire le plein" by "driving a car" just because it's the ultimate aim of filling the tank???
