Spanish term or phrase: agua del canal
This is from a document describing equipment for washing delicate rugs.

"channel water" doesn't seem right to me and from the description (untreated water), it suggests that it refers to the mains water supply. What do others think, please?

and:

Many thanks.

A literal rendering would appear to work rather well in this context, Comunican, even if you have no evidence right now of any canals nearby. It just makes sense, I'd say, in this context of (un)treated water.

I hope this helps!

Cheers from Vietnam :-)

Thank you for the clarification, Comunican.

In that case, 'water from the water main' may be a good option.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thank you, but the company (which restores and repairs delicate rugs and textiles) is based in the middle of a city with no canals or rivers nearby so I don't feel it would be from a canal

Asker: @PhilGoddard: I have indeed looked it up on a map!

agree  Jennifer Levey: In many places there is no 'mains water supply' as mentioned by Asker. Instead folk get water from open-air watercourses: channels/leats (UK regional)/canals etc.
