español term

session de cine

español al inglés Arte/Literatura Modismos / Máximas / Dichos
Curatorial text by a Spanish critic for a show by an Argentine artist. Is this simply a show or screening?

AllegroTrans Jan 18, 2022:
@ Wendy "Movie houses" (i.e. cinemas) is where the "sesiones de cine" (screenings) took place, so Tana is correct here
Taña Dalglish Jan 18, 2022:
@ Wendy Thank you. However, movie house? Alright, but .... I respect that it is your decision to make, but that is, IMO, saying the same thing twice: "The first movie houses were dubbed "nickelodeons," ... Regards.
AllegroTrans Jan 10, 2022:
Wrongly parsed because the term (in its proper context) is " las primeras sesiones de cine"
O G V Jan 9, 2022:

film screening(s)

I'm wondering if what is being referred to are actually "screenings", because of the word "sesiones" in the original text.

español term (edited): primeras sesiones de cine

first cinema sessions

Something as simple as that would be enough
I believe
Peer comment(s):

neutral AllegroTrans : "Sessions" is not generally the term used in English for cinema screenings
