school of thought: A particular way of thinking, typically one disputed by the speaker.
‘a school of thought that calls into question the constitutional foundations of this country’ (Lexico.com)

Encontrei três traduções para este termo: escola de pensamento; corrente de pensamento e linha de pensamento.

"Linha" aparece como sinônmo de "vertente" no Aulete Digital:

vertente: Subdivisão de um movimento organizado (partido político, escola artística etc.) cujos integrantes defendem opiniões próprias (vertente conservadora); LINHA.

Se "linha" (ou "vertente") é a subdivisão ("branch") de uma escola de pensamento (e.g. uma escola artística, conforme definição anterior), então "linha de pensamento" não seria uma boa tradução por ser uma substituição do todo pela parte (i.e. sinédoque).

Neste caso, a escolha ficaria entre "escola de pensamento" e "corrente de pensamento". Qual das duas é a melhor? Ou ambas são igualmente aceitáveis? (Prefiro respostas com argumentação e exemplos no lugar do típico "Sugestão..."). Obrigado!

Escola de pensamento é mais utilizado. Corrente de pensamento passa um significado um pouco diferente.
