Insurance
Spanish term or phrase: Vida
The word appears in a letter from the Puerto Rico Health Insurance Administration. I cannot figure out how the word "vida " is being used here. The specific paragraph reads like this:

"En respuesta a su carta, le informamos que deberá remitirse a las aseguradoras con quien tenga contrato para que le faciliten la información que solicitan. ****Son las aseguradoras que asignan las vidas a los grupos médicos con quienes determinen tener contrato.****

The word also appears in another letter where it says: "A continuación encontrará el detalle de la certificación solicitada, entiéndase ***las vidas***, los pagos netos de capitación y las visitas médicas facturadas y pagadas a cero". This is followed by a table that contains the following headings: Nombre del médico primario, Membresía, Pago, Encuentros.

Any ideas? Could "vidas" possibly be "memberships"?

costumer

Explanation:
By coincidence, in Portuguese (Br), the term vidas is used by private health companies to refer to their costumers or users [shorter, by the way]. In Spanish there is also the term *vida*, which has literally the same meaning in any context you use it. I am sure that this will suffice for the purpose.
