Remorse ate/gnawed away at her Explanation: Ariadne went with him, she loved him, she loved him from the first moment she clapped eyes on him, but she realised that her heart was beginning to harden with fame. She held before her the bloodied piece of the sail that covered her brother's head and witnessed the burning of her father's fleet and remorse ate away at /gripped her as she watched Crete fading into the horizon from the stern, knowing she could never return. |
