Como ya se vió antes, el texto utiliza términos no estándares. Los cables de angulación permiten que se vaya torciendo el extremo distal del endoscopio en diversos ángulos y curvaturas. Para ello se tensa el cable de acero interno, y el tubo de resorte exterior protege a los demás componentes del endoscopio contra el efecto serrante de la fricción con el cable de acero.
