Hello! I am currently translating employee feedback questionnaires (the employees work in a mobile phone store/technology store) and "fin de semana de calidad" comes up a few times. For example:
Más fines de semana libres (sábados) sin ser de calidad. Queremos poder elegir todos los fines de semana de calidad del año, como antes. limitación de poder pedir findes de calidad junto a vacaciones.
From my understanding, this terms refers to having a weekend with more than just one day off. So, some options I've though of are: long weekend (although this gives the impression of a 3-day weekend at least in English), 2-day weekend, consecutive days off (I'm not sure if this terms refers literally to "weekend" or simply time off).
I am unsure myself. LOL. The range of examples and links I found are anywhere from 2 days off to 5 days off (e.g. in Spain where the example given includes a specific holiday period, 6 & 8 December, and a movable holiday (5 days total). I am familiar with a four-day long weekend (we have two such weekends here, Easter and Christmas). Gosh, your guess is as good as mine and the best to do now is wait for someone who is far more familiar with Spanish labour laws/holidays to pipe in! Good luck and regards.
Hi Taña, thank you for your help. I'm not sure this refers to a "puente" weekend or a long weekend. My main hunch is that this is simply a normal 2-day weekend, but I can't be sure. This is because often in retail work, employees only get a Saturday or a Sunday off (i.e. a one-day weekend), so I think "fin de semana de calidad" could just be emphasizing that this is a normal two-day weekend. That's just my hunch, though, and I'm not certain.

There seem to be a few variations, stretching from 2-4 days, but, for example in my country, if the weekend is longer than the usual 2 days weekend, involving 3 days or 4 days (for example, in Jamaica, Good Friday and Easter Monday are considered holidays, with the regular weekend in between) and this is known as a "long weekend", if that helps.

Does your text relate to Spain, or do you know? Does the text at all indicate that it is a specific type of worker, i.e. one who may work a six-day week, for example? Explanation: I used to have a job where I would put in a written request to take a day off around a holiday weekend, which would give me a four-day-in-a-row break. It was called "taking a vacation day". Vacation days accumulated depending on how many full-time hours an employee had worked, over a specific period of time.
