Spanish term or phrase: taxi colectivo (Chile)
Hola, colegas.

Saludos,
mew

disagree  Jennifer Levey: No, in Chile a 'colectivo' (like the 'línea 1' that goes past my front gate every 45 mins or so) is a 'taxi' that follows a fixed route through the town, regardless of whether it has any passengers on board. It's like a small-scale bus service.

taxibus

Explanation:
You could use the term "taxibus". They do exist in the UK but I think people may not completely understand what they are.

Example sentence(s):
  • A taxibus operates like a regular public bus service, but run by a licensed Hackney Carriage or private hire operator. Taxibus services must be registered with the Traffic Commissioner.
  • South Derwentside taxibus service is run by DC Taxis for shift workers. It goes to Consett and Stanley industrial estates via Langley Park ...

colectivos (shared taxis)

Explanation:
As there is not an exact equivalent in English, why not go with not translating it and adding an explanation. This is how the Rough Guides deal with it.

Colectivos, which are shared taxis operating along a set route with fixed fares, are normally only slightly more expensive than local buses. Most colectivos look exactly like regular taxis (apart from being all black, not black and yellow) and have their route or final destination marked on a board on the roof, but in some cities colectivos are bright yellow cars, often without a roof-board.

neutral  Yvonne Gallagher: just because there are lots of answers doesn't make it "pro"! Was about to agree with this until I realised it runs a fixed route (like a bus)
