Please be aware that after a period of time as detailed in the Herts RRD Policy, unless the requirements of a forthcoming prosecution or other tribunal apply, or the data is likely to be required for a public enquiry, this data and all copies should be deleted/destroyed in line with the policy. This data will no longer be available from your CAB/ Single Point of Contact (SPoC).
This material shall be securely handled and stored in accordance with Government Security Classification (GSC) marking 'Official: Sensitive' as a minimum
You have duties under the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA) You should familiarise yourself with related NPCC guidance and local policy, available on your force intranet or via your CAB/SPoC. You may share this data with colleagues forthe purposes of your current investigation. Depending on the nature of your investigation, you may have duties in accordance with the Criminal Procedure and Investigation Act 1996 (CPIA) to record, retain, review and reveal to the prosecutor in accordance with the Code of Practice relating to that Act. You should ensure secure storage of these data, in accordance with local arrangements, for the purposes of that Act. This data shall be stored in such a way that it can be effectively presented as your exhibit in a court or other tribunal. In the case of comms data if a prosecution is contemplated but has not come to court after the elapse of five years you have sole possession of the original data and should retain in accordance with CPIA.
This data may be shared with colleagues and partner agencies where it is appropriate to do so and you are assured that appropriate arrangements for handling, storage and eventual deletion processes are in place. See the Herts RRD Policy for more detail on sharing information.
