: Problem je što mora da se "turn a blind eye to" NEŠTO i ne znam kako bi se uklopilo u ideju da "poklanjaju" detetu ocenu. "Turn a blind eye to... what?" To je više ono, progledati kroz prste, što bi se možda moglo uklopiti ali nisam siguran kako.

: Svida mi se kao izraz ali ne mogu da se složim da ovde odgovara. Ovde "good looks" nisu bitni već da su mama i tata u stranci. Mada se postavlja pitanje i koliko ovde odgovara izraz "na lepe oči" iz istog razloga...

Битан детаљ је да је спортиста у питању био боксер. Оцене је засигурно добијао „на лепе очи“. Нисам уверен да би his good looks био уверљив превод.
Zapravo nisam sigurna u značenje izvornika u ovom slučaju, jer “favorizirati” i “progledati kroz prste” nije potpuno isto. Pošto se spominju stranke, mislim da je idiom malo nespretno upotrijebljen.
I mi bi rekli “protekcija, favorizacija, privilegija”, u slučaju “special/preferential treatment”, ne bi u tom slučaju rekli ovo lepe oči. Ovdje smisao jeste protekcija, ali lepe oči nije precizan termin za to.
