English term
Knife Drop Plate
English to French
Other
Mechanics / Mech Engineering
Hi all and happy new year,
I am translating a Chisel Plow manual and came across this term
Knife Drop Plate-to-Standard Cap Screws
The TM says
Vis entre plaque et étançon de gouttelette de couteau, which is obviously wrong, plaque de goutellette de couteau doesn't mean anything...
There is also
Knife Drop Bracket, Right-Hand
In the TM, it is translated as
Support de gouttelette de couteau droit
Any help appreciated
Thanks in advance

plaque de réglage (en hauteur) des socs
A chisel plough is one with blades or tynes effectively reminiscent of knives, and in some cases scimitars. They don't turn soil over as mouldboard ploughs do, they simply disturb/break up the soil, pull out/sever small roots, dislodge stones, etc.
Some call the tynes, or socs in French, 'knives'.
I'm assuming the 'drop plate' is similar to the attachment going by the same name used to adjust the height of a towing ball or other hitch at the back of a vehicle, so plaque de réglage/ajustement (en hauteur).
Low confidence, however, because we don't really have a lot of context to go on, because I'm not an agricultural specialist, and because I don't see how this ties in the rest of the term, -to-Standard Cap Screws.
Some sentences before and after might help, if you have them.

A pleasure to respond to your question. This is a technical term (Referring to mechanics). You can visit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drop_point if we can consider it a reference to just make an idea. (I recommend to search in a specialized dictionnary)

plaque = plate
I imagine that "Drop" refers to the knife when lowered down?
Can't actually find your reference though on any En site
Is this a translation or is it originally English?
