كلمة تحصن تعني في اللغة (تقوى) وازداد حماية، فمعنى التساؤل متى يحمى القرار الإداري إلى الدرجة التي لا تسمح بسحبه؟ تأخذ مدة حصانة القرار الإداري 60 يومًا في القوانين كافة، سواءً من قبل الجهة المسؤولة عن القرار، أم فيما يخص الدعوات التي تطالب بإلغائه، وبعد مرور 60 يومًا يصبح القرار محصنًا لا يمكن سحبه ولا المطالبة برفعه أمام القضاء. وتسمى هذه الفترة (وقت تحصين القرار) أي حماية له.
