Explanation:
"The chime is the part of the doorbell that is located inside your house, making a sound whenever the push-button is pressed: it can either be permanently wired and attached to your wall or be portable; while most houses have one chime, it's possible to connect more than one to the same doorbell system."

neutral  Daryo: We don't know if this chime is wireless. Even if it's a wireless chime, it's the power supply to **the emitter** that would be "bypassed".

-> Hardwiring a transmitter (doorbell button) does tend to bypass THE EXISTING (obviously, not compatible for hardwiring) wireless receiver (chime)… It's not rocket surgery, Daryo.

Explanation:
HERE the "chime" MUST BE a piece of hardware.

You can "bypass" from electrical power (by inserting a jumper wire) ONLY some hardware.

This chime (hardware) may well be used to produce a sound also called "a chime", but the electrical power can only be meant for "the chime = the hardware"

Also, a "chime" is supposed to produce a pleasant ding-dong sound, not a continuous ringing.

to bypass your existing chime by inserting an jumper wire.

Note: here "bypass" in effect means "take out of the electrical circuit" - when you insert this "jumper wire" the chime is in effect taken out of commission.
