Again, more context? What's the complete sentence? Looks like a mistyped word to me, but I'd need the sentence to figure it out :-)

échet : 3e personne du singulier du verbe échoir.
Selon le Robert : Procédure. (Vieux) Si le cas y échoit, y échet, s'il y échet, le cas échéant.

I checked "le cas échéant" in Eurodicautom which returned "where appropriate", but there are a lot more translations possible.

Not a typing error !

et \"where appropriate\", \"if appropriate\", \"if need be\", \"where the case arises\", etc.
