Norwegian term

peles

Norwegian to English Tech/Engineering Construction / Civil Engineering Bridge/road construction
"Pel 1,2 og 3 peles 44 m" from the folloing text: "I akse 2 har de to første pelene truffet fjell. Avviksmelding er levert og bygg-herren ber om at disse pelene heves ca 0,5 m og videre peler heves ca 1,0 m i forholde til dette. Pel 1,2 og 3 peles 44 m. Byggherren minner om at de siste 15 m av pelene skal peles vannfylte."

This text is from the minutes of a meeting, so there is not a lot of context provided, but I have always had a problem getting my head around the terms pel, pele, peles, pelning etc. Sometimes it seems that pelning is interchangeable with 'peilning'.
I am never quite sure whether they are referring to chainage, pile-driving etc., or haw to translate it to English, especially when the word is used as a verb, as here..

If anyone can refer me to some good reading references on the subject, I would greatly appreciate it

Yes it does Actually Hans, you have answered my question. Now I can't really see what I was so confused about. Also, I found 2 documents from the NPRA. I seem to be able to answer all of my questions by comparing them. Thanks for your help. Please enter 'driven' so I can give you some kudoz.

Seems context based in this instance. You can infer from the context that they are discussing driving piles. Peles means "driven" so "piles 1, 2, and 3 will be driven 44m", but that doesn't exactly answer your question.
