Texto de origen - inglés Long before I formed "XXX", I enjoyed a large following for my services as a physical therapist.
As a former accident victim myself, I understand pain, physical restriction and the power of proper treatment. Once restricted to long term bed rest, I am now virtually pain free; I ride, train, and present client horses.
But it was my association with Danish physiotherapist, Sidsel Sommer that helped me to form the idea for "XXX". I felt certain that the same careful attention to the body’s natural biomechanics coupled with correct training and proper exercise that worked for me would work for horses.
"XXX" treats joint mobility, muscular and skeletal imbalance. While I do not treat lame or unsound horses, I will work together with your vet to determine the proper course of action for your horse.
"XXX" combines the use of traditional physical therapy treatment approaches with other treatment techniques to develop a comprehensive treatment plan for each horse. Among the treatment approaches are:
• Acupressure / Acupuncture is the art of healing using pressure on key points on the surface of the skin to stimulate the body’s natural self-curing abilities. When these points are pressed, they release muscular tension and promote the circulation of blood to aid healing. Acupressure uses gentle but firm pressure while acupuncture uses thin flexible needles.
• Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine’s (OMM) immediate goal is to restore maximal, pain-free movement of the muscuolsketal system in postural balance. OMM applies a number of different techniques to the joints, their surrounding soft tissues, muscles and fasciae to restore normal contact within the joint and with other structures eliminating muscular spasms and tensions in the ligaments.
• Myofascial Release is used to treat soft tissue problems. The fascia is a thin tissue that covers every muscle and fiber within each muscle. By stretching the fascia which becomes short and tight due to injury or overwork, the uneven tightness in the fascia is released.
• Trigger Point Treatment releases the involuntary tension found in the muscle as a result of being overloaded. Very often the muscle in which a trigger point is found is weakened or shortened and can cause referred pain to other parts of the body.
• Laser Therapy uses low level laser light to provide pain relief and tissue regeneration from soft tissue injuries, joint conditions, and chronic pain..
• Ultra Sound Therapy uses high-energy sound waves to help ease painful joints and muscles. These sound waves are guided into the body from the head of an ultrasound machine delivering non-invasive pain relief.
• Magnetic Therapy uses a magnetic device to increases the blood flow and remove any disturbance of the neural tissue. Magnetic stimulation offers relief of pain and inflammation, stimulation of tissue, increased blood circulation and oxygen.
• PNF Stretching is a technique combining passive and isometric stretching followed by short periods (20 seconds) of muscle rest and relaxation. Conducted in a series PNF Stretching helps to achieve maximum static flexibility and increased range of motion.
• Chiropractic Manipulation concentrates on the musculosketal component of spinal joint dysfunction and the rehabilitation of the spine. Chiropractic evaluations are used to detect and treat gait abnormalities, alleviate pain in the back and neck and some nerve damage.
• Reflex Therapy applies localized pressure on the back and neck of the horse stimulating areas in direct linkage to those parts of the brain controlling physical responses.
Being a rider first and foremost, I understand the rider’s influence on the horse and begin every session watching the horse move freely and then under saddle. My interest in the treatment and management of pain led me to complete a two year course in Accupunture in Saeland. While my training concentrated on human acupuncture, I have worked with Danish and American vets to apply my knowledge to the work with horses. At "XXX" I have a track record of success while treating horses that vets and riders have given up on. I have been able to help when the prognosis is undefined or the expense of continuing traditional methods too great.
• Romax Foldager, the big hearted 17’2 hand gelding diagnosed with unspecific and untreatable lameness in the front leg thrived with treatment and became a North American regional championship at the Advanced level
• Colenda, the three year DH graded mare born with hind leg unevenness flourished after a "XXX" treatment program and is now competing and winning at MB level in Denmark
• Graphitti, a show jumper till he was seven, started showing signs of lazy leg and a weakening of the shoulders retired from the competition ring and has been rehabilitated into an all-purpose family riding horse.
“You saved the day for me and my horse. Bert showed an inexplicable problem in the warm up ring. I knew something was seriously wrong but I didn’t know what the problem could be. I was devastated at the thought of entering the show ring with Bert’s tongue flapping in the wind and twisting like a propeller. Thanks to your quick evaluation and treatment of his locked jaw, Bert was able to complete the class. I don’t know what you did; I can’t explain it and I don’t understand it but your hands did magic. Bert was able to relax his jaw, chew softly on the bit and lift his back. He finished 4th in the Grand Prix – an impressive placing since I was readying myself to withdraw from the class. Thank you so much, this isn’t the first time you have saved the day for me and my horse. I am sure it won’t not be the last.”

• Ultralydsterapi, som bruger høje lydbølger til lindring i smerteplagede led og muskler. Disse lydbølger føres ind i kroppen fra hovedet ved brug af en ultralydsmaskine, der giver non-invasiv smertelindring.
• Magnetterapi, som bruger magnetisk udstyr til at øge blodcirkulationen og fjerne forstyrrelser i nervevævet. Magnetisk stimulering giver smertelindring, nedsætter inflammation, stimulerer vævet og øger ilt- og blodcirkulation.
• PNF-stræk, som er en teknik, der kombinerer passivt og isometrisk stræk efterfulgt af korte perioder (20 sekunder), hvor musklen hviler og slapper af. Når PNF-stræk udføres i en serie af stræk, hjælper det til at opnå maksimal statisk fleksibilitet og et øget bevægelsesområde.
• Kiropraktisk manipulation, som koncentrerer sig om genoptræning af dysfunktioner i de muskulære komponenter omkring spinalled og rygrad. Der anvendes kiropraktiske undersøgelsesmetoder til at bestemme og behandle fejl i gangmønsteret og til at lindre ryg- og nakkesmerter samt visse nerveskader.

Jeg var interesseret i behandling og håndtering af smerter, og derfor gennemførte jeg et toårigt kursus i akupunktur på Sjælland. Denne uddannelse er koncentreret omkring human akupunktur, men jeg har samarbejdet med danske og amerikanske dyrlæger for at overføre min viden til arbejdet med heste. Her i "XXX" har jeg med succes behandlet en række heste, som dyrlæger og ryttere ellers havde opgivet. • Romax Foldager, den 175 cm høje vallak med det store hjerte fik stillet diagnosen uspecifik og uhelbredelig halthed i forbenet. Den blomstrede op under behandlingen og blev nordamerikansk distriktsmester på højt niveau
• Colenda, den tre år gamle DH-klassificerede hoppe, som var født med ulige bagben blomstrede ligeledes op efter et fysioterapiprogram hos "XXX", og konkurrerer og vinder nu på MB-niveau
• Graphitti var springhest, indtil han i syvårs-alderen begyndte at udvise tegn på at have et dovent ben og svækkelse i skuldrene. Han blev derfor trukket tilbage fra konkurrencebanen. Han er nu blevet genoptrænet, så han fungerer som en allround familieridehest.
"Du har virkelig reddet situationen for mig og min hest. Bert udviste et uforklarligt problem ved opvarmningen. Jeg vidste, der var noget alvorligt galt, men jeg vidste ikke, hvad problemet bestod i.
