Bio
As a translator and proofreader, my main goal is to add value to the work I do by using my experience, creativity, and passion. The combination of skills I acquired in complementary fields such as translation and information, communication, journalism, but also administration, wholesale and retail, enhances the quality of my work through in-depth knowledge of various sectors of the industry. A team-player, I love learning from and sharing with people around, be helpful and cheerful.

Professionaly speaking
I started my career as a translator and a journalist switching between France and Romania. A few years later I settled in France and studied English language and literature at Lumière University in Lyon. After obtaining a Bachelor degree, I left for London as a French language assistant and an intern in a publishing house while passing my exams for a first-year Master degree. Back to France one year later, I registered with an experimental branch freshly created by ENSSIB (Library and Information Studies School) in collaboration with the University I was already attending and obtained a Master degree in Library and Information Science coupled with parallel translation. The curriculum of this section combined linguistics, compared translation using corpus (my favourite), information science and library management with main specialty in database management and text analysis through computer programmes.
In 2007, I moved to Geneva and continued working as a freelance translator and proofreader while I worked for the International Labour Office (ILO) as a documents researcher.

In 2009, I signed a one-year contract as a digital documentation officer at the International AIDS Society for which I designed and set up a digital library http://library.iasociety.org/: put together and made a selection of the material collected during 21 years, wrote the specifications, translated material and supervised the scanning project of old documents.

In October 2010, I rejoined the ILO, as a reference and terminology specialist, doing research on Internet and local database, updating the translation database, and pre-translating official texts with MultiTrans.

In October 2012, I enrolled as the Social Media Consultant for the iKNOW Politics UNDP Website at the Secretariat of the Inter Parliamentary Union. I designed, moderated online discussions in French, made research and wrote résumés of articles, and assisted with regional information, publish content on Twitter and Facebook accounts. I also translated and monitored the website to ensure accurate translation of permanent content, posted daily news and wrote content after press review. One year later, as an archivist, I did the inventory of existing non-archived material (paper, audio-visual, photographs), analysis of existing archives and activities in the office, interviews with staff to find out their expectations, drafting of archiving policy, procedures, guidelines, and recommendations. For the Programme for Partnership between men and women I updated the information on parliaments by region database which led to the publication of the map on women in politics http://www.ipu.org/pdf/publications/wmnmap14_en.pdf

I AM A FREELANCE TRANSLATOR AND SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER. Thank you for thinking of translators as work partners. Mutual respect is a sine qua non condition.
