Spanish term or phrase: Habitación
Buenas

Muchas gracias.

English translation:room
Explanation:
You're a native speaker and I'm not, but I believe your definition, "el cuarto del hospital donde están las camas de los enfermos" is misleading. This is a room containing one or a small number of beds.

ward

Explanation:

"Ward" is a room in a hospital which has beds for many people. José's text does not say that, IMO. //The only thing that the context says is "camaS de los enfermos". Is José correct in using "camas" via explanation?

-> Hello, Taña. Precisely, the "Context" paragraph provided by José leads me to believe "habitación" is being used to refer to a multiple-bed section of a hospital rather than a single-patient room.

neutral  Eileen Brophy: A. Ward is a very big room with a lot of patients in beds with curtains around the beds for privacy when they are being given treatment by doctors or nurses

-> Hello, Eileen. Although I might have misunderstood the "Context" section, that is indeed the kind of room I am envisioning based on José's explanation.

agree  Yvonne Gallagher: well, José uses "camas" or multiple beds so yes, "ward" with 3 or more beds. (Doesn't have to have a lot of beds!). A "private room" is for 1, "semi-private" for 2 patients and otherwise it's a ward!
