Bio
I was born in 1965.
I began studying English language at age 4. Since childhood I was surrounded by an abundance of technical publications, carefully explained by my father, a military engineer.
My studies were at the Technology University of Brasov, Romania.
I am a professional translator for 24 years.

My translation work began at the Army Arsenal (Arsenalul Armatei R.A.) in the marketing department, followed by the Rolling Mills Design Institute (Iprolam S.A.) Bucharest, also in marketing.

My works at Arsenalul Armatei R.A. included armored vehicles – light and heavy, combustion engines, missiles, artillery – ground and air defense, combat ships, firearms, ammunition, fire control systems, flight control systems, optical systems, mechanical and laser stabilization systems (gyros), heat seekers, production line technologies, technical studies, PhD papers, research papers, other. The sources for such materials were world-renown manufacturers from Europe and abroad, whose identity must remain confidential.
All the company contracts were added, as well as specialized correspondence, both from my company’s officers and from high-ranking officials in the Ministry of National Defense.

At Iprolam S.A. I have translated technical documentation on rolling mills, stretchers, pickling lines, roller-grinding machines, hydrotesters, API pipe technology, thermal imaging systems, gauge control equipment, automation installations, automation systems, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), full production plants, erection documentation, to name but a few.
All the company contracts and correspondence were added, as well as, again, more PhD and research papers.

Materials came from companies such as Siemens – Germany, Mannesmann-Demag – Germany, Ungerer – Germany, VAI – Austria, LumaSense Technologies –United States, Clecim – France, Ansaldo – Italy, Danieli SpA - Italy, Ehinger Impianti SpA – Italy, other.
Another part of my translations were designs and documentation worked out by my own company, for customers such as Sytco AG - Switzerland, Michelin – France, ArcelorMittal – various subsidiaries, JESCO – Saudi Arabia, Mechel and TMK – Russia, Tenaris Silcotub, Essar – India, etc.

I have translated constructions documentation for Coca-Cola Romania, Max Bögl – Germany for the National Stadium “Lia Manoliu” contract, Fröhling & Rathjen – Germany and Cube Engineering – Germany for a Wind Mill Park in Constanta, Romania, other. The subjects concerned resistance structures, foundations, geology surveys, architecture, etc.

The Romanian Ministry of Justice authorized me as translator.

The PhD and research papers I translated refer to combustion engines, steel technology, precision pipe technology, gun barrel technology, ballistics, aerodynamics, guidance systems, etc. I have recently translated a PhD paper on High-Accuracy Inertial Navigation Systems. The PhD was awarded Magna cum Laude.

My English language skills served me when I translated two sociology studies, a theater play, as well as a number of literature documents, etc.
I have recently translated this Wikipedia page:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Blog/Drafts/TOU_update_2014
in Romanian language.

One of the most demanding translations I have ever completed was related to the protection of life and safety of the operators of a gauge control system, where the danger of death and injury was ever present.
This was followed by a number of high-value contracts.

The documents varied in size from common correspondence to phonebook-sized, multi-volume documentation.

It is worth mentioning that ALL my translations were finished in time and, most importantly, they were accepted by the customer’s specialists as accurate.

Above all, I enjoy paying much attention to details, completely understanding the technical phenomena described in the material. In my view, this is key to high-quality translations.
